Life in LA began as a group email series that I would send to my family and friends just for fun. It used to be that I would try and write one at least once a month and then it got to be less frequent. In a way it began as something like a "blog" before blogs were started. Since I am currently disfellowshipped, I have pretty much discontinued emailing of the series.
The early ones are not much more than fluffy "hellos" written spur of the moment. But about mid-2001, I started to make an effort to put more thought into each one so I think the overall quality started to get better and they begin to take on a more substantive (and longer) nature. Another point of interest is that when I write them I just write them. I don't redraft and revise them except to quickly run through it for obvious spelling errors (a pet peeve).
Although, I am far too busy these days to continue the series with any regularity, I do plan on occassionally writing a new one and I will post it here if there is anyone that cares. :-)
Note: I seem to be missing at least one installment, perhaps two. The one I am thinking of is a funny one about my buying a new showerhead at the hardware store. If anyone happens to have that one saved somewhere can you please send to me. thanks, EBL.
